Terence Crawford is currently looking for his next opponent after becoming a four-weight world champion.
The 36-year-old completed the welterweight division last year when he defeated Errol Spence Jr with a career-defining performance. Going into the fight, many billed it as a 50/50 contest but ‘Bud’ dominated from the opening bell and stopped Spence in the ninth-round after knocking him down three times.
That victory made history – Crawford became the first male to ever be undisputed champion in two weight divisions since the beginning of the four belt era.
With Crawford and Spence making it clear they struggled to make the 147lbs welterweight limit, both men have moved up to super-welterweight.
Crawford made his debut last weekend at 154 against WBA champion Israil Madrimov. In a cagey back and forth encounter, where neither fighter allowed the other to have a prolonged period of success, the American picked up the pace in the championship rounds to earn a unanimous decision on the scorecards.
The man who’s looking to fill the void at welterweight after its two biggest names left is Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
The Philedlphia native has an impressive record of 29 knockouts from his 32 victories with no defeats. In his last outing he stopped former Crawford opponent David Avanesyan in the fifth round, one round earlier than ‘Bud’ managed when the two met in 2022.
‘Boots’ has been vocal about his desire to fight Crawford and is willing to step up a division to do so.
However, Mexican boxing legend turned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, doesn’t think that’s a wise idea, believing Crawford would ‘destroy’ Ennis if the two were to meet.
“Please. Terence Crawford will destroy ‘Boot’s ha.”
Please. @terencecrawford and @VergilOrtiz will destroy Boots haha

Crawford had made Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez his number one target, but with that clash now seemingly dead in the water Ennis might just get a chance of landing the big fight he’s been chasing.
