Filipino great Manny Pacquiao has shared his final thoughts on the upcoming ‘mega-fight’ between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Mexican star Canelo is set to defend his undisputed super-middleweight championship against the unbeaten American on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The boxing world have been waiting for the monumental showdown between the pound-for-pound stars since it was announced back in May, just moments after Canelo defeated Cuba’s William Scull to capture the undisputed crown at 168lbs for the second time.

Crawford will make the move up to super-middleweight for the very first time in his career when he clashes with the Mexican star, having spent the majority of the past decade campaigning at welterweight.

One man that knows a thing or two about being involved in huge fights is eight-division world champion Pacquiao, who has shared the ring with a number of generational greats throughout the course of his tenure.

In an interview with ESNEWS, Pacquiao made no mistake in backing Canelo to get the job done over Crawford in just over one week’s time.

“I think he’ll [Canelo] win this fight.”

Whilst Crawford is faced with what could be the toughest test of his career when he faces Canelo, the unbeaten 37-year-old from Nebraska could write his name into the boxing history books by becoming the first male fighter in boxing history to become a three-weight undisputed champion.

He previously achieved this feat at both super-lightweight and welterweight with respective victories over Julius Indongo in 2017 and Errol Spence Jr in 2023.
