As far as modern boxing greats go, Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao is up there as one of the very best.

Pacquiao has captured numerous world titles across eight weight classes since making his debut back in 1995, proving himself to be one of the greatest fighters of the 21st century.

The Filipino superstar has shared the ring with an abundance of generational greats along the way, including the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao made a shock comeback to the sport back in July after a four year hiatus, fighting to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, although many believe ‘PacMan’ had done enough to walk away victorious.

In a social media feature with IBA Boxing, Pacquiao was asked to reveal the greatest knockout artist in boxing history, where he names one Mexican legend in particular.

“Knockout artist? Julio Cesar Chavez.”

In a decorated professional career that spanned across 25 years, Mexican icon Chavez fought on no less than 115 occasions before announcing his retirement from the sport in 2005.

Chavez racked up an impressive 107 victories during his tenure, with 86 of those wins coming by knockout, as he won multiple world titles across three weight divisions, holding the record for the most successful world title defences with 27.

Whilst he suffered a handful of defeats throughout the course of his career to fighters such as De La Hoya and Kostya Tszyu, Chavez did enjoy a number of legacy-defining victories over the likes of Meldrick Taylor and Greg Haugen.
