Manny Pacquiao has revealed who he believes to be the better fighter between two of the biggest names in the sport – Naoya Inoue and Gervonta Davis.
Inoue is widely considered to be one of, if not the best active fighter on the planet. The 32-year-old from Japan currently reigns as the undisputed super-bantamweight champion, remaining unbeaten as a professional since making his debut back in 2012.
As for ‘Tank’ Davis, the 30-year-old from Baltimore also boasts an unblemished professional record, racking up 30 victories since entering the paid ranks. He currently holds the WBA world lightweight title, making the most recent defence of his crown with a draw against Lamont Roach Jr back in March.
With rumours circulating about a potential ‘super-fight’ taking place between Inoue and Davis, eight-division world champion Pacquiao has spoken out and revealed who he believes is actually the better fighter.
Speaking to the media ahead of his sensational ring return against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios last month, ‘PacMan’ paid homage to the unbeaten Japanese star, claiming he has a very similar style to himself.
“Inoue [would win against Davis]. Inoue is fast. Inoue’s style is like when I was young.”
‘The Monster’ makes his return to the ring in just four weeks time, as he faces former unified super-bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev in a defence of his undisputed crown on Saturday September 14 at the IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan.
Should he come through this bout unscathed, Inoue is expected to fight once more before the end of the year, with reports suggesting that he could face WBC super-bantamweight mandatory challenger Alan Picasso in December.
