Ten years on from their first encounter, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr could lock horns once more.

The modern day greats did battle in the ‘Fight Of The Century’ at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas back in May 2015, a bout that had been many years in the making.

Despite the hype that had surrounded their showdown for the unified WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles, the fight itself failed to live up to expectations as ‘Money’ Mayweather secured a unanimous decision victory.

Now, over a decade on, the legendary duo appear to be in negotiations for a rematch. Pacquiao has said that it will be a professional contest, which means ‘Money’ Mayweather, if signed, will put his famous 50-0 record on the line against the Filipino legend who returned to the ring this year, fighting to a draw against reigning WBC 147 pounds champion Mario Barrios.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Pacquiao revealed that the one man that could stand in the way of a rematch between him and Mayweather taking place in 2026 is heavyweight legend Mike Tyson.

“[Floyd] has his own decision, so I cannot prevent him not to fight Mike Tyson”

It was announced in September that Tyson and Mayweather would be facing off in an exhibition bout during the early stages of next year, although an official date and venue was not included in the information. A Pacquiao rematch undoubtedly carries more weight and makes more money, which will lead many to believe Floyd will be leaning that way. It also, however, brings more jeopardy.

Tyson, who is approaching his 60th birthday, made a controversial return to the ring back in November of 2024 when he was defeated by Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at the conclusion of their heavyweight clash in Arlington, Texas.
