Manny Pacquiao Predicts Antonio Margarito vs Devin Haney Fantasy Fight

Manny Pacquiao has given his view on who would win a fantasy match-up between Devin Haney and his former foe, Antonio Margarito.

Pacquiao remains boxing’s only ever eight-division world champion. He is a veteran of 73 contests and is now 47-years-old, but fought as recently as last July when he battled to a draw with WBC champion Mario Barrios.

Later this year, he is scheduled to rematch Floyd Mayweather in September, more than 11 years after their first fight, which many fans already think was several years past their peak.

Back in 2010, Pacquiao fought Margarito for the vacant WBC super welterweight title and won by decision despite imploring the referees to stop the fight several times before the final bell because of the beating he was serving up on his opponent.

Margarito sustained career-changing eye damage in the contest and fought just four more times. He lost to Miguel Cotto for the WBC middleweight title, then took five years out and eventually retired after a win against Carson Jones in September 2017.

Speaking to Inside the Ring, ‘Pac Man’ was asked how the American-born Mexican would get on with Haney, and he sided with the current star.

“Devin would beat Margarito. Speed [beats] power.”

Haney is 27-years-old and has held multiple world championships in three weight classes. Last time out, he beat Brian Norman Jr by decision and has been called out, like many in the welterweight division, by Conor Benn, though a fight with long-time American rival Shakur Stevenson looks more likely.
