Manny Pacquiao Announces Whether Floyd Mayweather Rematch Will Be Exhibition Or Professional Fight

Manny Pacquiao has given a major update on his rumoured rematch against Floyd Mayweather.

It was revealed this week that Pacquiao and Mayweather are currently in negotiations for a second meeting, over a decade on from when the two boxing legends first shared the ring with one another.

That ended in a unanimous decision victory for Mayweather, but for years Pacquiao has been keen to face his rival again, and it appears that there is now a good chance that it might happen.

Pacquiao has now explained his current position whilst speaking to Seconds Out, first discussing how likely the bout is to happen.

“It depends on the negotiation, right now it’s in negotiation. It depends on if we can understand each other. My people and his people are directly coordinating…. I feel initially we’re almost agreeing [with] each other. A lot of things we are agreeing with each other, but there’s a few conditions that we are negotiating.

It’s a very interesting [fight]. Right now I don’t have a shoulder problem. It’s a good fight and I’m sure the world of boxing will be excited if the rematch will push through.”

The Filipino icon was then asked about reports of a meeting with Vasily Lomachenko, leading to him to reveal whether the proposed clash with Mayweather would be an exhibition or a professional bout.

“There’s also a negotiation with Lomachenko for an exhibition, not a real fight, but the Mayweather thing is negotiating for a real fight.”

If it does indeed go ahead as a real fight, it would be the first time Mayweather has competed professionally since 2017, while Pacquiao made a sensational comeback to the sport back in July when he had a majority decision draw with WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
