Manny Pacquiao has issued an important update on his potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather.

The modern greats have reignited their rivalry in recent weeks with reports suggesting that they are now on the verge of finalising a deal to face each other once again, over a decade on from their first encounter.

Mayweather prevailed in their first meeting, defeating the Filipino icon via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles in what proved to be an underwhelming twelve rounds.

Pacquiao made a sensational comeback to the sport in July when he fought to a draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, falling short in his attempt at breaking his own record as the oldest world welterweight champion of all time.

As for Mayweather, the 48-year-old from Michigan has not fought as a professional since he beat MMA fighter Conor McGregor in August of 2017, although he has participated in a number of exhibition bouts in the years that have followed.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Pacquiao was asked where he believes a rematch with Mayweather will take place as they enter the final stages of negotiations.

“Probably it will happen in Las Vegas.”

Pacquiao has also revealed that the proposed fight against Mayweather would be a professional bout, rather than an exhibition, meaning it would be the first time in over eight years that Mayweather has competed professionally if it does indeed go ahead.

The Filipino icon had originally been in line to face WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next, but it now appears the he has turned his attention to getting revenge over Mayweather.
