Filipino great Manny Pacquiao has revealed the toughest opponent that he has shared a ring with.
‘PacMan’ has proved himself to be one of the best fighters to have ever graced the sport, winning world titles in a record-breaking eight divisions throughout the course of his professional career.
He has crossed paths with an abundance of great fighters during his tenure, including the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather to name just a few.
The 46-year-old made a shock comeback to the sport back in July, putting an end to a four year hiatus as he fought to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In a feature with The Ring Magazine, Pacquiao named none other than Antonio Margarito when asked to reveal the fighter that he faced with the best chin, as he claims the Mexican hurt him ‘several times’ during their clash.
“That fight was a war. It was brutal. I threw everything at him and he not only took it but came back for more. Incredible.”
“Big and strong is an understatement. His body shots hurt me several times throughout our fight.”
Pacquiao clashed with Margarito on just one occasion during his career, defeating him via unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC super-welterweight title at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
Margarito was a multiple-time world champion at welterweight. His career was marked by major victories over fighters like Miguel Cotto, but also by controversy after his 2009 license suspension for illegal hand wraps, which significantly impacted his legacy and led to questions on all of his stoppage wins.
