Manny Pacquiao Says There Is One Fighter Who Would KO Prime Floyd Mayweather: “I Think He Does It”

Manny Pacquiao believes there is just one fighter that would have knocked out a prime version of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao clashed with Mayweather in the ‘Fight of The Century’ back in May of 2015, a bout that had been many years in the making although it has been argued that it took place a lot later than it actually should have.

Mayweather would walk away victorious that night, defeating Pacquiao via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles in what turned out to be an underwhelming twelve round contest at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather’s career would last a further two years before he announced his retirement shortly after defeating MMA superstar Conor McGregor in their monumental crossover showdown.

Speaking to ES NEWs, Pacquiao made no mistake in backing Roy Jones Jr to be the one fighter that would have knocked out a prime version of Mayweather, paying homage to the four-division world champion in the process.

“You agree with me? Roy Jones is Roy Jones. In his prime, man, fast, footwork, strong. You see Roy Jones in his prime? [A knockout?] I think so.”

At the height of his stellar career, Jones was considered to be one of, if not the best fighter on the planet. He rose to prominence during the 1990’s, defeating the likes of Mike McCallum, James Toney and Bernard Hopkins along the way.

Perhaps the most memorable victory of his career came in 2003 when he made the move up to heavyweight to dethrone WBA world champion John Ruiz, outpointing his fellow countryman over 12-rounds at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
