Manny Pacquiao has called into question Floyd Mayweather‘s famous boxing resume.
Mayweather is viewed as one of the greatest fighters of all time, retiring with a perfect 50-0 record after competing for over two decades and becoming a five-weight world champion from super-featherweight to super-welterweight.
During that time he defeated a number of fellow boxing icons, including Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and even Pacquiao himself.
The win over Pacquiao came in May 2015, with Mayweather beating the Filipino icon by unanimous decision in a bout that boxing fans felt should have happened several years earlier when both fighters were in their prime.
While Pacquiao may not have got his arm raised on the night, he still feels he should have been victorious, telling Fight Hub TV that Mayweather shouldn’t have his unbeaten record.
“I thought I won the fight. I threw a lot of punches even though he’s moving around. I can’t imagine why I lost the fight.”
Not many in the boxing world agree with the assessment, however many do feel Mayweather had been lucky at other stages in his career, particularly in his first fight with Jose Luis Castillo.
Pacquiao is set to make a remarkable return to the ring at the age of 46 this weekend when he challenges Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Speculation has already begun that a win for the Filipino could lead to a rematch with Mayweather, but he has tried to play down those talks for now.
“I don’t know, just one at a time. Let’s talk about it after the fight.”
Mayweather has also found himself involved in a feud with Roy Jones Jr in recent weeks, and Pacquiao has weighed in on that rivalry by revealing which fighter he deemed to be better.
