Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul are less than two months away from their controversial exhibition clash which has captured the attention of fans around the world.

Unbeaten WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is set to face Paul over ten rounds at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday November 14, in the latest high-profile event to be shown live on Netflix to a global audience.

Davis last fought back in March when his world lightweight title defence against Lamont Roach Jr ended in a stalemate after a competitive 12-rounds at the Barclays Center in New York City, leading to the three judges at ringside scoring it a majority decision draw.

As for Paul, ‘The Problem Child’ made his return to the ring in June when he defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their cruiserweight match-up in Anaheim.

It was announced earlier this week at a press conference in Miami that Davis and Paul’s controversial exhibition clash will have a maximum weight limit of 195lbs, and will require both fighters to wear 12oz gloves on fight night.

In a heated discussion with Paul at the latest press conference, Davis’ trainer Calvin Ford expressed his frustration at the size of the gloves being changed, after it was initially expected that the American duo would be wearing 10oz gloves.

“Why y’all couldn’t take 10 [ounces], he had 8, already he’s giving up 4 ounces of the gloves, I gotta say this because y’all betting all this money, you understand what I’m saying?”

That led to a back and forth between Paul and Davis, where they agreed to instead fight in 10oz gloves, though whether this gets made official remains to be seen.

Fans and analysts alike have expressed their concerns about ‘Tank’ being allowed to step into the ring with Paul, a man who is eight inches taller than him and has weighed in significantly heavier than him throughout his professional career.
