Ahead of Jake Paul‘s unlikely fight with Anthony Joshua, his former trainer has given some insight into he contest.

Paul is still very much a novice professional, having had just 13 fights. They have been well chosen to appeal to the public while also offering them minimal risk and maximum reward.

He has beaten a nearly 60-year-old Mike Tyson and several other older fighters and crossover MMA stars, but this month steps into the ring with a legitimate heavyweight.

Joshua is hugely experienced and a former Olympic gold medallist and two-time unified world champion who has fought at the very top level for many years.

Speaking on Fred Talks Fighting, former cruiserweight BJ Flores, who worked with Paul during the early stages of his career, gave his view on the contest.

“On paper, it looks like a very tough fight. And to anybody in the industry, Anthony Joshua is a world champion and gold medalist. This is a big difference from anybody Jake has fought in the past, but you know he’s looking for these big challenges. He wants to fight the toughest guys and I think with Anthony Joshua, he’s got exactly that.

“I would have never dreamed in a million years that Jake would fight him in his fifth year of boxing. Anthony Joshua is 6ft6, 245lbs, extremely dangerous. This is a very difficult fight for Jake so I wouldn’t have made this fight.”

He was then asked for a verdict on the fight.

“It doesn’t look like Jake has any chance on paper.”

Flores is not the only one to have that view, with many predicting an early KO for Joshua.
