Heavyweight Sparring Partner Of Jake Paul Assesses His Skills After Rounds In The Gym

Jake Paul is working hard in the gym to give himself the best possible chance in his forthcoming fight with Anthony Joshua later this month.

Paul has done incredibly well to get where he is within five years of his first fight. He had no amateur experience before that and across 13 fights has stopped or beaten on points the likes of Ryan Bourland, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Nate Diaz and Mike Tyson.

None of those are in form, in their prime boxers with some nearly 60 and others more known for their MMA exploits, but next time out, Paul faces a genuine boxing giant in Joshua.

Many people fear for his safety given he is much smaller, much lighter and much less experienced and has never taken shots from a full-blown heavyweight, having only fought at cruiserweight himself.

Despite all that, trainer Joe Gallagher reports via X that former two-weight world champion and current heavyweight campaigner Lawrence Okolie has said that he has been impressed with the American after sparring him ahead of his huge showdown with ‘AJ.’

“I messaged Lawrence, and he was quite glowing about Jake Paul, on how well he was doing with Frank Sanchez and Jared Anderson.”

However, Gallagher also admitted Okolie has not made any wild predictions for the outcome of the contest.

“I don’t think he’s gone as far as [backing him to beat Joshua.]”

For many people, even if Paul were to survive a few rounds with Joshua, it would be a bad look for the Brit.
