Despite that, and the size, reach and weight advantages Joshua will have not he night, the fight goes ahead on December 19 over eight rounds with 10 oz gloves.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Paul’s sparring partner Steve Geffrard gave his view on the contest.

“It’s pretty crazy, it’s a pretty crazy situation but that’s the beauty of boxing. I’m sure everyone is completely counting Jake out, but in boxing you never know. Expect the unexpected.

Joshua, he’s accomplished everything from Olympic Gold medal to two-time undisputed champion of the world, so as far as him taking this fun fight, if anyone deserves it, it’s Anthony Joshua. And Jake, you know, he is showing he will fight anyone. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Now Jake can finally show his full arsenal of what he’s learned these past few years. Over the years in his career, when I’ve been around him, it seems he wants to fight better opposition but because of the business around him he has to fight certain names that bring certain interests and stuff.

Now, he gets to show what he’s made of vs AJ which is extremely dangerous but let’s see what happens.”

Many people are not only predicting but hoping for a quick Joshua victory against Paul in order to preserve the sanctity of boxing.
