Jake Paul has said that he intends to return to the professional boxing ring,
Last time out back in November, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul stepped up to his biggest challenge yet when he faced former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua. It didn’t go well. For the majority of the rounds up at heavyweight he ran from Joshua, hugged and generally tried not to engage.
Joshua, who had not fought for over a year since being KOed by Daniel Dubois, eventually caught up with him and landed a thunderous right hand that shattered Paul’s jaw and ended the contest in the mid-rounds. It was a second loss following a points defeat to Tommy Fury back in 2022.
However, speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Paul set his sights high on a comeback with Francis Ngannou as soon as he is back to full health.
“I’m definitely gonna keep on fighting. We will see how the jaw continues to heal up. I would say there is a long list of opponents. I think, most recently, Francis Ngannou was talking a lot of smack. Thats’ an easy fight for me, he talks a lot of smack, he’s a terrible boxer.
“I’ll go back up to heavyweight and knock him out like Joshua did, render him unconscious. He knows I lasted longer than he did against Joshua.
“I didn’t get put out, so I think he maybe wouldn’t do the fight cause deep down he would not want to get embarrassed, so to me that’s a fun one on the list.”
Ngannou lost to Tyson Fury back in 2023 and then was knocked out inside two rounds by Joshua the following year and has not returned to boxing since.
