Jake Paul remains on the hunt for a new opponent after his controversial exhibition clash with Gervonta Davis was cancelled.
‘The Problem Child’ had been scheduled to face the unbeaten WBA lightweight champion in a ten round exhibition on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
It was announced in a statement released by Most Valuable Promotions earlier this week that the fight has now been cancelled. Paul has pointed to both Davis’ lack of work ethic and a recent civil lawsuit accusing him of kidnap and battery as reasons behind the decision.
The statement also revealed that Paul’s return to the ring has now been pushed back, giving the 28-year-old from Phoenix plenty of time to select a new opponent and a bit more time to prepare accordingly.
As he continues his search for a new rival, Paul has taken to social media where he has been in a war of words with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who recently revealed he turned down an opportunity to step in and face ‘The Problem Child.’
Dear Francis – just say you already got humiliated in boxing and are scared to lose to Jake Paul. I accept that. You are light work my friend. Stuck in mud.

Choose your words wisely boy. I agree that you need someone to discipline you for what you did to Mike Tyson, but stay in your lane.😤 https://t.co/EpBFWrKMjk

After a successful career in the UFC, which saw him hold the UFC heavyweight championship between 2021 and 2022 and once set a record as having the hardest punch in the world, Ngannou made the transition into boxing.
The hard-hitting Cameroonian was beaten in his professional boxing debut in October 2023, suffering a marginally close split decision defeat to Tyson Fury, although it has been argued that Ngannou should have had his hand raised after he floored ‘The Gypsy King’ in the third round.
Ngannou made his return to the ring just under six months later, this time against two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who floored the former UFC superstar several times before stopping him in the second round of their showdown in Riyadh.
