Jake Paul Will Only Fight One Other Man At Heavyweight Before Returning To Cruiserweight

Jake Paul has opened the door to a showdown with one heavyweight in particular before he drops back down to cruiserweight.

The former YouTube sensation has been inactive since he suffered a brutal sixth round stoppage defeat to former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami last December.

‘The Problem Child’ sustained a double broken jaw in the process and has undergone successful surgery which is expected to keep him out of action until the later stages of this year.

Whilst he is expected to move back down to cruiserweight ahead of his return to the ring, Paul appears to be holding out hope for one final heavyweight clash with yet another hard-hitting opponent.

In an interview with Chris Mannix, Paul admitted that whilst he believes he is ‘definitely’ a cruiserweight, he says he would be open to facing former UFC world heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

“Yeah it’s a good question and not super thinking about the next opponent necessarily and more thinking about what the overall goal is, and I think that is still to make the path to world champion and to fight people at my weight class. The one outlier is Francis Ngannou, but I’m definitely a cruiserweight and learned that against Anthony Joshua.”

Ngannou made his last appearance in a boxing ring back in March of 2024 when he was knocked out in the second round of his clash with Anthony Joshua at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 39-year-old Cameroonian is scheduled to make his MMA return in a non-title bout against Brazil’s Philipe Lins on the undercard of Ronda Rousey’s monumental clash with Gina Carano next month.
