Artem Lobov decisions Paulie Malignaggi at BKFC 6 but the former two-weight boxing champion is not happy
The main event of BKFC 6 was always likely to go off with a certain degree of controversy but one of the least probable sources was a five-round decision in favour of average MMA fighter Artem Lobov over former two-weight boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi.
The New Yorker felt he won the Florida State Fairgrounds showdown at a canter in Tampa, as you will see in the video below, but broke his right hand in the second of the two-minute rounds and dropped a 48-47 verdict on all three judges’ scorecards.
Malignaggi jabbed well but was often tagged in the clinch (allowed in BCFC). He seemed to be in charge early on but Lobov came on strong late in a contest where both men were cut. On a positive note, the pre-fight antipathy appeared to be forgotten with a post-match hug.
