Peter Fury has given his opinion on the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua.
When this fight was initially mooted several months ago, few thought it would actually happen due to the extreme differences in the two men.
One is a novice professional who has only fought low-level opposition mainly at cruiserweight, and the other is a veteran heavyweight, former world champion and Olympic Gold medalilst who was one of the biggest punchers in the division for several years.
It will indeed happen though, as Joshua and Paul prepare to do battle on December 19 in Miami, Florida, and top trainer Fury is the latest to offer his thoughts.
Speaking to Boxing Now, Fury was honest in his assessment of the fight.
“If you was Joshua would you take it? Yeah. Why wouldn’t you? Someone its offering you 50-80 million, what are you going to do, against somebody like him? Course he’s going to take it.
“People say it’s bad for boxing, oh his legacy will be ruined. Listen, if he was here training with me and that fight came up I’d say yeah, take it. Course you would, stupidness to say you’re not, too much money.”
He then spoke about the fight itself.
“I don’t give [Paul] any chance. Joshua has had his flaws, but you’re talking about a two-time world champion, somebody that’s got power to put your lights straight out.”
Most people in boxing agree that this should be a quick and easy win for Joshua, and anything but will be an embarrassment for the former unified ruler who will be hoping to go on to more legitimate fights next year.
