Peter Fury Delivers Honest Verdict On Tyson Fury’s ‘Dangerous’ Comeback Fight

Peter Fury has given his view on Tyson Fury’s latest comeback opponent, Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Fury will have been out of the ring for around 15 months by the time he next laces up the gloves in earnest. His last two outings were decisive points losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, and left him without any belts and fast approaching 40.

After a year off, he is now back and having one last tilt at the top. Fury has taken long breaks before and has always come back strong, most famously beating Deontay Wilder in their three-fight trilogy after a number of years off battling mental health problems.

His return will come in April against the towering Russian, who is 36 years old and has won 21 of his 23 fights with 19 knockouts.

Speaking to Boxing Kind Media, Fury was asked whether or not Makhmudov was a solid comeback opponent.

“All big men’s dangerous, so yeah, it’s whatever. It’s not a fight to jump up and down about, it is what it is, it’s a comeback fight, so it’s a good fight.”

He was then asked about Makhmudov’s qualities.

“Like I said, all big men’s dangerous, it is what it is. He’s been found wanting before but it’s a good fight.”

Makhmudov’s last outing was a tough fight with British favourite Dave Allen, which he won on points after surviving plenty of pressure early on. He will present a stern test for Fury, who will be hoping to go on to bigger fights with the likes of Anthony Joshua later in 2026.
