Peter Fury Sends Advice To Tyson Fury On ‘Warm Up’ Fight Before Facing Anthony Joshua

Peter Fury has given his view on who his nephew Tyson should take on next ahead of his clash with Anthony Joshua.

‘The Gypsy King’ spent the whole of 2025 in retirement, having lost the first two fights of his career in 2024. Both were against eventual two-time undisputed ruler Oleksandr Usyk, who has also twice beaten Joshua.

Back in January, Fury announced his return to the sport and in April, he took on Arslanbek Makmudov, who proved to be a solid opponent but the Russian eventually ended up losing on the cards after 12 rounds.

Now the much anticipated fight with Joshua has been announced, there is much debate about whether or not Fury needs another warm up to stay sharp ahead of the biggest contest of his career.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Peter didn’t name names but suggested it should be someone who would have a go if he does fight once more before ‘AJ.’

“Well, definitely somebody who is durable and can hit back, because a walk in the park is not achieving anything. The only thing you get out of that is a ring walk and saying right, I need to get in the ring again, that’s it.”

Joshua has also had an extended time out of the ring, with just one KO of Jake Paul last December following his loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

He returns in July against Kristin Prenga for the first time since he was involved in a car accident in Nigeria in which two of his close friends were killed.
