Shawn Porter Predicts ‘Vicious’ Mike Tyson vs Prime Muhammad Ali

Two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter has predicted the outcome of a fantasy clash between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.

Ali and Tyson are regarded by many as being two of the greatest heavyweights to have ever graced the sport, proving their credentials throughout the course of their respective professional career.

Ali captured the world heavyweight championship on three occasions during his 21-year tenure, racking up victories over the likes of Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Ken Norton to name a few.

‘Iron Mike’ burst onto the scene after Ali had retired, making his professional debut back in 1985. He etched his name into the boxing history books in 1986 when he defeated Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time at just 20-years-old.

Speaking to ProBox TV, Porter shared his thoughts on the intriguing fantasy match-up between Ali and Tyson, as he claims he would ‘find it hard’ to go against ‘The Greatest’.

“I really find it hard to bet against Ali especially in his prime. The right size, the right speed, the right reflexes, the whole nine.

“Tyson was vicious, he saw red when the bell rang but I still don’t think that’s enough. I think you guys all know the boxer that can spin and turn, use his speed, knows his distance and range.”

Whilst he is still commended for his exceptional boxing ability, Ali also receives plaudits for the influence that he had on the sport and the amount of fighters past and present that he has inspired, leaving little to no doubt for many that he is the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves. Tyson shares this sentiment, and has admitted in the past that he feels he would be no match for the man he considers to be one of his idols.
