Prince Naseem Hamed Says Tyson Fury Must ‘Do Something He’s Never Done’ In Usyk Rematch

Prince Naseem Hamed has looked ahead to the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

The first clash between the two heavyweights was initially postponed due to a cut the Brit suffered in sparring. Many people worried that might derail it for good but, in May, it played out under the lights and Usyk managed to get a points win after turning the tide in the mid-rounds to really stick it on ‘The Gypsy King’ late on.

The loss was the first of Fury’s professional career. Some pundits felt he may not deal with it well, perhaps seeking retirement rather than activating the rematch clause. However, the second fight is set for December with both men talking it up and acknowledging they must be better.

Speaking to IFL TV, former world champion and British fan-favourite ‘Prince Nas’ was asked how he saw it going. He acknowledged Fury would have to do something that hasn’t yet been asked of him in his campaign, but praised him and backed him to achieve it.

“Fury-Usyk, it’s gonna be a good fight. I would love to see Tyson Fury step up to the plate in a way that he’s never ever done and bring all them belts back home. Nothing will make me happier than seeing that.

I’ve always said why’s everybody just talking about his last fight? Why weren’t they talking about Tyson when he went and smashed up Wilder when nobody could do it. When Anthony Joshua wouldn’t fight him, why are we not talking about that? Why is everybody forgetting he demolished everybody in that division for all them years? … Yeah that ninth round was a crazy round, we know that, but you know what he gets through it on his feet and he went twelve.”

“He could [win the rematch] cause look I seen him hitting Uysk with some serious uppercuts and hurting him and can hurt him so I feel he can … We got a lot of love for the Furys. He’s named his son, he’s said, after me. That means the world to me.”

Whoever comes out on top could well be facing the winner of Daniel Dubois versus Anthony Joshua in another undisputed fight.
