Not everyone is looking forward to the controversial clash between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul on November 15.
One is Tyson, who was once the youngest ever world heavyweight champion aged just 20 and a man who had a legendary career that involved fights with the likes of Evander Holyfield, Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis.
He famously knocked out all of his first 19 opponents inside the opening six rounds and many believe he will have retained that power even now, up into his late 50s.
In the opposite corner is YouTuber turned boxer Paul, who has had just 11 fights and lost once to Tommy Fury. He does however have youth on his side as he is still just 28.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, promoter Frank Warren was asked if he would watch. He will, but that doesn’t mean he agrees with the event.
“Course I will, it’s like watching a car crash isn’t it? That’s what we do. I really have the greatest respect for Jake and his team. They’re really good people, I have worked with them, and they’re a joy to work with.
“58-year-old guys fighting, I’m not a big fan of that, guys at that age shouldn’t be fighting. But they have their own mind, the governing body whoever it is in Texas has allowed it to happen, as long as it’s medically regulated and they know the risks going into it, that’s their choice. Me, it’s not something I would endorse.”
Warren – who helmed two ‘Iron’ Mike fights in the UK against Julius Francis and Lou Savarese in 2000 – then made a forecast for how the fight would go early on.
“I think for a round you will get vintage Mike Tyson coming out and doing what he does, after that, we’ll see where he goes … But, one thing’s for sure, it’s gonna get record viewing because people will buy into it.”
Former Tyson opponent Lewis meanwhile has given his prediction for the fight.
