Two-time world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman has shared his final thoughts on the impending clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

After months of build-up, Canelo and Crawford will finally meet this weekend in their highly-anticipated showdown for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo has proved himself to be arguably the best super-middleweight of his generation in the years since he made the move up from 160lbs back in 2018, reigning as the undisputed champion on two separate occasions.

As for ‘Bud’, the 37-year-old from Omaha remains unbeaten as a professional since his debut back in 2008, capturing world titles in four weight classes along the way including the undisputed championship at super-lightweight and welterweight.

One man that has shown an interest in the much anticipated clash between Canelo and Crawford is two-time heavyweight champion Rahman, who pulled off one of the sport’s biggest upsets back in 2001 when he defeated Lennox Lewis.

In an interview with Fight Hype, Rahman didn’t hesitate to back his fellow countryman to defeat Canelo, as he admits he believes the 37-year-old will ‘outbox’ the Mexican superstar.

“I feel like Terence can outbox him. I don’t think Terence will knock him out. Terence is clever in the ring. Terence know how to manoeuvre the ring. I think the ring general-ship belongs to Terence. I think Canelo got a little spoiled, and I think he’s been fighting softer touches lately. I think that’s going to be to his disservice in this fight.”

Victory for ‘Bud’ would see the pound-for-pound great become the first male fighter in boxing history to become an undisputed champion in three weight classes, matching the feat that was previously set by female superstar Claressa Shields.
