Hasim Rahman is a former world heavyweight champion who has been asked to rank Oleksandr Usyk amongst the greats of the division.
For many, Usyk is a current pound-for-pound ruler. His achievements in the boxing ring are incredibly rare as he is one of only three men to be undisputed champion in more than one division.
Terence Crawford has done it at super-lightweight and welterweight, Naoya Inoue has done it at bantamweight and super bantamweight and Usyk has done it at cruiserweight and heavyweight.
The former Olympic gold medalist has never been legitimately put down in the ring, and rarely ever looked hurt. He remains unbeaten in the professional ranks and amongst his victims are Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, who he beat twice in back-to-back fights, and Tyson Fury, to whom he did the same in his last two fights in 2024.
Speaking to Fight Hype, Rahman – who competed alongside the likes of Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield – had high praise for Usyk, branding him perhaps the greatest of all time.
“I put him in that greatest of all times category. Based on statistics, and what he’s done, I don’t see nobody who matched him.
“All I know is Usyk won a gold medal, the only one who unified four cruiserweight titles then moved up to heavyweight and unified four heavyweight titles. That’s never been done. I don’t think people are giving him the credit he deserves.”
Usyk is again now looking to make history by becoming the first man to ever be a two-time undisputed champion in the four-belt era by taking on current IBF belt holder Daniel Dubois, who he has already beaten once by KO back in 2023, albeit after a controversial low blow had him down on the canvas.
