Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will face each other once again this Saturday to finally settle the score after a highly controversial first encounter.

Taylor retained his undisputed status via split decision when the two first met in February 2022. Catterall knocked the Scot down for the first time in his career and the majority of fans and pundits had him a clear winner on the scorecards.

Two years later and now with no belts on the line they meet again in what is fast becoming one of British boxing’s biggest rivalries.

One man who will be keeping a close eye on proceedings is former WBC super-lightweight champion and ex-foe of Taylor, Regis Prograis.

Speaking to MillCity Boxing, the American believes Taylor’s injuries might be catching up to him.

“I thought that Catterall beat him when they fought the first time, I thought he landed the better punches, he dropped him and seemed like he stunned him and hurt him.

It looked like Josh Taylor was slipping, I don’t know if he was slipping mentally because he had everything, he was undisputed at one point in time, from what I hear he wasn’t that focused, he got injured a lot, he had long layoffs, so I don’t know if he’s over that mentally.

Catterall hasn’t really looked that good either, he fought Linares his last fight and didn’t look that good either.”

Pushed for a prediction, Prograis is siding with man he thought won the first fight.

“It’s an interesting fight but for me I think I’m going to roll with Catterall.”

Taylor-Catterall 2 takes place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday May 25 and will be broadcast live on DAZN in the UK.
