Heavyweight legend Riddick Bowe has issued a warning on the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
The YouTuber turned boxer was originally set to face the former heavyweight champion on July 20, but an ulcer flare up caused ‘Iron’ Mike to release a statement postponing the bout.
“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.
My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
The fight has been rescheduled for November 15 and, speaking to Fight Hype TV, former two-time heavyweight champion Bowe warned Paul that age won’t be a deciding factor when the bell rings.
“I think it’ll be a great fight. As long as he’s making money I don’t see a problem with it. I think he’s 57, 58, but if he can still do it then why not? I think [Tyson] he’s got enough to win the fight.”
Paul has decided to stay active and will now take on former UFC fighter and Bare Knuckle Boxing champion, Mike Perry in July. The bout will be Tyson’s first ‘pro’ contest since a loss to Kevin McBride back in 2005.
