Legendary trainer Freddie Roach believes there is just one man that would have gotten the better of Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather is regarded by many as being one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves, remaining unbeaten throughout the course of his 21-year professional career which spanned between 1996 and 2017.
He captured world titles across five weight classes during his tenure, defeating the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao, facing the latter in the ‘Fight Of The Century’ when they clashed back in 2015.
Despite his outstanding success and remaining unbeaten for the entirety of his career, top trainer Roach has spoken out and named the one fighter that he believes would have beaten Mayweather in a shock claim.
In an interview with Boxing Social, Roach was asked to predict the outcome of a fantasy showdown between Mayweather and the late-great Aaron Pryor where he makes no mistake in backing ‘The Hawk’ to prevail.
“Floyd is a very good boxer in his day but Aaron Pryor was better. I’m gonna go with Aaron Pryor all day long.”
Pryor competed as a professional for 14 years between 1976 and 1990, becoming a two-time light-welterweight world champion during this period.
Whilst suffering just one defeat throughout his tenure, Pryor racked up two career-defining victories over Alexis Arguello, although he struggled with drug addiction in the later stages of his career.
After a brave battle with heart disease, Pryor tragically passed away at just 60-years-old back in 2016.
