Terence Crawford is in the market for a super-fight against Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez, though the Mexican hasn’t shown the same desire.

Both are four-division world champions, but Crawford last fought at the super-welterweight limit of 154 pounds while Canelo has been comfortable at 168, super-middleweight, for some years now, and has even gone as high as 175 on two occasions.

Packing on a further 14 pounds is something the American is willing to do to chase greatness, even if some in the sport believe it to be a step too far. That includes Canelo, who has said he will listen to offers for the fight but claims he will get no credit for beating a smaller man.

If the money or terms aren’t right, where Crawford goes is unclear. He isn’t short of entertaining match-ups, but may struggle to find anything that really adds to his already impressive legacy.

One potential opponents is knockout artist Vergil Ortiz Jr, though his trainer, Robert Garcia has revealed to FightHype that Crawford told him personally that it was Canelo or retirement.

“I think Crawford is looking at just a huge fight with Canelo and if he doesn’t get it he might not even fight anymore. He’s told me that before.”

Garcia believes the fight can happen and would be competitive.

“I think a fight with Terence would be big. Even though a lot of people would think it’s a total mismatch, I think Crawford puts up a good fight.”

Others in the sport have assumed that ‘Bud’ is choosing between those two options, however the man himself recently hinted that he would find other challenges if the fight with Canelo doesn’t materialise.
