Terence Crawford‘s next fight is currently unknown.
‘Bud’ was last in action in August when he stepped up to 154lbs to challenge Israil Madrimov for his WBA super-welterweight title.
It was a much closer affair than a lot of people expected, but in the end Crawford was able to get the victory by unanimous decision to become a four-weight world champion,
In the aftermath, ‘Bud’ once again made it clear that he would be willing to step up to 168lbs for a showdown against unified super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
It would be a huge step up in weight for Crawford, who just two fights ago was fighting at 147lbs and made his professional debut back at 135lbs.
One man who has weighed in on the potential clash is top trainer Robert Garcia, who has revealed to Fighthype that after having a conversation with Crawford, he has an idea what ‘Bud’ may choose to do instead if he misses out on the bout.
“Crawford is a smart man. He already accomplished a lot and did a lot. He doesn’t need to challenge himself and doesn’t need to prove nobody anything.
“I’ve talked to him personally, my feeling is he wants that big fight against Canelo, and if he doesn’t get that, he might never fight again. He doesn’t need anybody to push him to take a challenge that he doesn’t need to prove anything anymore. He’s already accomplished it.
“I don’t see him pleasing the fans just because they’re telling him he needs to fight this guy or that guy, he’ll go and look for the best fight and if not he’ll enjoy his life.”
If the fight was to happen, Garcia has also given his prediction for who he believes would win.
