Manny Pacquiao vs. Rolly Romero is a possible fight that continues to be talked about within the boxing world.
Pacquiao made a sensational return to the sport in July at the age of 46 when he challenged Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas.
It wasn’t to be for the Filipino icon, after the bout ended in a majority decision verdict due to scorecards of 115-113 Barrios and 114-114 twice, but Pacquiao proved that he is still capable of competing with some of the best fighters in the 147lb weight class.
Another man that has become a big name in the welterweight division is Romero, after he claimed an upset win over Ryan Garcia at Times Square in New York in May to win the WBA Regular title.
The full version of the WBA belt belonged to Jaron Ennis, but after he recently vacated his titles and moved up to 154lbs, Romero was upgraded to official champion, making him a hot commodity in the division.
That has led to speculation that a clash between Pacquiao and Romero could take place, with Romero himself making it clear that he would welcome a fight against the boxing legend.
With a fight possibly happening, top trainer Robert Garcia has weighed in on who he believes would be victorious, telling ESNews that he thinks it would be a win for Pacquiao.
“He’ll probably beat Rolly. Rolly is strong but he’ll probably beat him.”
Romero isn’t the only fighter to crave a showdown against Pacquiao, with his most recent foe Garcia also calling for the fight.
