Top Trainer Robert Garcia Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Chances Against Canelo In Just 3 Words

A fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford remains one of the biggest that could be made in boxing.

The megastars are regarded as two of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, having both dominated the sport for over a decade.

Canelo is the unified super-middleweight champion, last defeating Edgar Berlanga to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO titles. He was undisputed at 168lbs until he was stripped of his IBF belt for not facing his mandatory due to the lack of commercial sense it made.

He has also held belts at at super-welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight during his career, defeating the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Callum Smith and Jaime Munguia during his illustrious career.

Crawford is also a four-weight world champion, having held world honours at lightweight, super-lightweight, welterweight and most recently super-welterweight, after he defeated Israil Madrimov in August to win the WBA belt at 154lbs.

He was undisputed at both super-lightweight and welterweight, and has beaten fighters such as Errol Spence Jr, Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Ray Beltran and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

While there may be two divisions between Canelo and Crawford from their last bouts, a fight between the two has been linked for the past year, with ‘Bud’ insisting he would be willing to move up in weight by a further 14 pounds.

Legendary trainer Robert Garcia has now offered his thoughts whilst talking to ESNews, and he had a defiant response when informed that Andre Ward believes that Crawford would beat Canelo.

“There’s no way.”

While Garcia may be adamant that it wouldn’t work out that way, Ward has explained just why he believes ‘Bud’ would be victorious.
