A Gervonta DavisShakur Stevenson fight is one of the best to be made in the sport of boxing, presenting a complete clash of styles.

Stevenson is the ultimate slick fighter who rarely gets touched, boxing to the old adage of ‘hit and don’t get hit’. Although this method has seen him become a three-weight world champion at just 27-years-old, he has come in for some criticism for his last few performances from fans who want knockouts.

‘Tank’, on the other hand, is happy to drop rounds and take some shots from his opponents as he stalks them. He carries the type of power that can end the show at any moment, boasting an incredible 28 knockouts from his 30 fights. Neither man has tasted defeat.

Speaking to Fight Hype, top coach Robert Garcia, who currently trains Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez and Vergil Ortiz among others, believes ‘Tank’ beats everyone at 135.

“He [Tank] is unbelievable man.

I think ‘Tank’ at this point is unbeatable at the lightweight division against any of the world champions. I think he’s the top guy right now in that division, he had a great performance. He has the timing, power, accuracy, everything is great man. He’s a perfect fighter right now.”

When Vasiliy Lomachenko pulled out of negotiations to face Davis it looked like an opening had surfaced for the fight to be made, but recent reports suggest Stevenson will now face former super-featherweight champion Joe Cordina next.
