Roberto Duran Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Terence Crawford Has Any Chance Of Beating Canelo

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are just months away from their monumental battle.

The modern pound-for-pound greats will face each other on Saturday September 13 at an unconfirmed location in the United States, although Las Vegas is said to be the front runner to host the highly anticipated ‘mega-fight’.

Canelo will make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship against the 37-year-old from Omaha, who is bidding to become the first fighter in the history of male boxing to achieve undisputed status in three divisions.

The fight was made official just moments after Canelo defeated former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh at the beginning of last month, albeit in what was an underwhelming performance from the 34-year-old.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Panamanian boxing legend Roberto Duran shared his thoughts on the upcoming match-up, claiming that Crawford ccan win if he keep ‘confusing’ Canelo on fight night.

“It’s a tough fight, but it depends on how Crawford comes in. He needs to box and brawl, keep confusing Canelo. Brawl, then box when Canelo expects a brawl. Next round, box when he expects you to brawl, keep him confused and you can win the fight vs Canelo.”

‘Bud’ has not fought in a division higher than light-middleweight after spending the majority of his professional career campaigning at welterweight. The 37-year-old made his 154lb debut last August when he defeated the previously unbeaten Uzbek star Israil Madrimov via unanimous decision to capture the WBA light-middleweight title in Los Angeles.
