Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are several months away from their monumental showdown.

The pound-for-pound stars will lock horns in what has been described as a ‘mega-fight’ on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo is set to make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship against ‘Bud’ Crawford, who is setting his sights on becoming the first male fighter in boxing history to achieve this feat at three weight classes.

The fight itself was confirmed just a short while after Alvarez was declared the winner against former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull last month, although the Mexican icon did receive criticism for his performance against the previously unbeaten Cuban.

One man who has spoken about the upcoming battle between Canelo and Crawford is boxing legend Roberto Duran, who became a multi-weight world champion during his Hall of Fame career which spanned over 30 years.

Whilst speaking to Fight Hub TV, Duran gave his verdict on the impending showdown between Canelo and Crawford, as he outlines exactly what ‘Bud’ needs to do to be victorious on the night.

“It’s a tough fight, but it depends on how he [Crawford] comes in, he needs to box and brawl, keep confusing Canelo. Brawl, then box when Canelo expects a brawl. Next round, box when he expects you to brawl. Keep him confused and you can win the fight vs Canelo.”

Crawford will face what is unquestionably the toughest test of his career when he clashes with Alvarez in September, as he makes the jump up in two whole weight classes ahead of their ‘super-fight’.

The 37-year-old from Omaha has spent the majority of his professional career campaigning at the welterweight limit, but did make the move up to super-welterweight last August when he dethroned Israil Madrimov of the WBA title at 154lbs.
