Roberto Duran has predicted the outcome of an intriguing fantasy showdown between two of the greatest fighters ever – Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard.
Both Robinson and Leonard are widely considered to be two of the best fighters to have ever laced up the gloves, proving their credentials throughout the course of their respective professional careers.
Robinson fought on no less than 201 occasions during his tenure, becoming a world champion six times along the way. He reigned as the world welterweight champion between 1946 and 1951 before making the move up to middleweight, winning the world title on five occasions within a 9-year period.
As for Leonard, the hall of famer rose to stardom during the 1980s where he became a member of the iconic ‘Four Kings’ alongside Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvelous Marvin Hagler. He would go on to win world titles in five divisions, including the undisputed welterweight championship.
Speaking to ESNEWS, Panamanian icon Roberto Duran, and former rival of Leonard, didn’t hesitate to name Ray Robinson as the best fighter of all time in his opinion.

Through the 201 fights that Robinson had as a professional, the Georgia native racked up an incredible 174 victories which included 109 wins via knockout.
He shared the ring with an abundance of generational greats along the way, although he is perhaps best known for his memorable battles with the likes of Carmen Basilio, Rocky Graziano and ‘The Raging Bull’ – Jake LaMotta.
