Roberto Duran has predicted the outcome of a fantasy match-up between Sugar Ray Robinson and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Duran stands out as one of the greatest fighters of all time. His 33-year professional career saw the Panamanian icon win world titles in four weight classes including the undisputed lightweight championship.
In the eighties he reigned alongside legendary fighters such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns, who were collectively known as ‘The Four Kings’ and dominated the sport throughout that golden era.
Since announcing his retirement from boxing in 2001, Duran has remained a keen observer of the sport and has followed the careers of a number of top fighters including Mayweather, who will also go down as being an all-time-great.
Whilst speaking to ESNEWS, Duran didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts on the outcome of a fantasy showdown between ‘Money’ Mayweather and the late-great boxing icon Sugar Ray Robinson.

Robinson is widely regarded as being one of, if not the greatest boxer in history by fans and historians of the sport. Over his glittering career, he fought on more than 200 bouts, winning a version of the world championship on six separate occasions.
He is renowned for his iconic clashes with the likes of Henry Armstrong, Rocky Graziano and Jake LaMotta amongst a number of others. After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Robinson passed away at 67-years-old, leaving an undeniable legacy behind which remains to this very day.
