Roger Mayweather Names The Best Fighter Of All Time After Admitting Floyd Mayweather Is Number 2

Roger Mayweather has revealed the one fighter that he ranks ahead of his nephew Floyd when revealing the greatest of all time in his opinion.

Roger coached Floyd Mayweather for a significant period of his accomplished professional career, although the five-weight world champion did occasionally switch coaches to his father Floyd Sr.

Floyd is widely considered to be one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever graced the sport. He took the sport by storm during the 2000s, racking up victories over the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya to name just a few.

Despite his outstanding achievements, Roger believes there is just one fighter in boxing history that emulates the greatness of his nephew.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, Mayweather admitted that he ranks the late-great Sugar Ray Robinson ahead of his nephew, paying homage to the exceptional six-time world champion.

“[Floyd] is ranked right behind Sugar Ray Robinson. He won seven world titles didn’t he? He beat everyone from 130 to 154. Where would you put him at? Ray Robinson is the greatest ever period. I don’t care what circumstance, Ray Robinson is the greatest fighter in the history of boxing.”

Robinson is regarded by many as being one of boxing’s greatest ever fighters, rising to prominence during the 1940s into the 1950s. The Georgia-native reigned as the world welterweight champion between 1946 and 1951 before he made the move up to middleweight, capturing the world title on five occasions during a nine-year period.

He had no less than 201 bouts during his career and is remembered for his iconic meetings with the likes of Jake LaMotta, Gene Fullmer and Carmen Basilio amongst many others,
