Rolando Romero is weighing up his options after pulling off an upset victory against Ryan Garcia.

The 29-year-old from Las Vegas floored Garcia in the second round of their showdown at Times Square in New York on May 2, before being declared the winner via unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBA Regular Welterweight World Title.

‘Rolly’s impressive display against ‘King Ryan’ will have surely earned him a huge fight next, but the former WBA super-lightweight champion appears to already have his sights set on facing one fighter in particular.

In an interview with Sean Zittel, ‘Rolly’ sent a call-out the way of eight-division world champion and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao when asked who he would be interested in facing next.

“Rolly vs. Pacquiao.”

Romero was then asked to sum up Pacquiao’s chances against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, who he is set to face in July.

“No matter if he beats Barrios it’s still Rolly vs. Pacquiao. How many losses does Pacquiao have? Oh that’s another thing, Pacquiao’s another one that don’t give a f**k about losses and everyone keeps tuning in for him right? All that undefeated s**t, that don’t mean s**t if you’re not fighting nobody.”

It was revealed earlier this month that Pacquiao would be making a sensational return to the ring against Mario Barrios, who currently reigns as the WBC champion at 147lbs.

‘PacMan’ has not fought since he was beaten by former WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in 2021, but the 48-year-old from the Philippines has left the door open for a return to the sport since then, having had two exhibition contests against Rukiya Anpo and DK Yoo respectively.
