Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero became the second fighter to defeat Ryan Garcia in a sensational upset last week.

The 29-year-old from Las Vegas sent Garcia to the canvas in the second round of their bout at Times Square in New York City, before being declared the winner via unanimous decision.

It was Garcia’s first outing since he defeated Devin Haney last April, and a rematch between the pair was expected to take place later this year until ‘Rolly’ squandered these plans and put on a career best performance against ‘King Ry’.

After it was revealed that Garcia had been visibly upset in the immediate aftermath of his shock defeat.

Romero has now shared his thoughts on this situation and actually stood up for his rival for showing his emotions. Speaking to Fight Hype, ‘Rolly’ claims it is only ‘human’ to cry, as he admits he cried himself just moments after capturing the WBA ‘regular’ welterweight title.

“Let me just be real, real quick. with this whole like footage of Ryan crying and all this stuff, why are you guys knocking a dude for crying after he lost? He had a world title shot and he lost, I’ll tell you like this, in the same f—–g van I was in, and I’m a f——g man I don’t give a f–k right, ain’t nobody gonna take away my damn man card, I was in the same van and I cried too because I really did this s–t, I pulled this s–t off you know I did everything I said I was gonna do man.”

It is unclear what Garcia’s next steps will be after suffering this setback, as the 26-year-old from California now finds himself at a cross-roads. A rematch with Haney could still be on the cards, however it looks highly unlikely that this will be next for ‘King Ryan’.
