Daniel Roman, 24-2-1-(9), retained his WBA super bantamweight title by impressively out pointing Japanese challenger Ryo Matsumoto, 21-2-(19),over 12 rounds in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday.

Roman produced a defensive masterclass against the taller Japanese fighter, who was never able to use his greater reach. The scores were 118-110 and 119-109 twice.
