Roy Jones Jr has shared his final prediction ahead of Jake Paul‘s showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul makes his return to the ring against Mexico’s former WBC world middleweight champion this weekend at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The 28-year-old from Cleveland has not fought since he defeated 58-year-old heavyweight icon Mike Tyson via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their controversial bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas last November.

Chavez will be looking to become just the second fighter to defeat Paul and potentially derail the American’s pursuit of securing himself a dream world title shot.

In an interview with Slingo, boxing legend Jones revealed what he believes the outcome will be when Paul clashes with Chavez this weekend, as he predicts a stoppage victory in the middle rounds.

“They know that he [Jake] beat Anderson Silva, and Anderson beat Chavez. So if he beat Chavez and Jake beat him, why should we think Jake won’t beat Chavez? Styles make fights.

“People love bad losses or big money. Money is one thing, bad losing and a guy getting upset is another – people want to see that. It’s intriguing, because we never know which Julio Chavez Jr will show up … I don’t know if he takes it seriously any more. I think this is just a money grab for him, but if he came out and tried, he is capable of beating anybody.

“He was a pretty good boxer, he can upset anybody, if he comes out and tries, but he has done nothing lately to make the American public think that he is going to come out and try. I think Jake stops him in the fifth or the sixth round.”

Should he be victorious over Chavez, Paul could go on to face WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis later this year, with the pair said to be in negotiations for a bizarre exhibition fight depending on the result of ‘Tank’s as yet unannounced rematch with Lamont Roach Jr.
