Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson could be finally set to face off in 2025.

Despite both recently fighting within the same timeframe and subsequently looking for opponents, the match-up eluded fans yet again. Stevenson, now signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom, has set out a hit list on which ‘Tank’ Davis is the third man.

When they eventually face off, the two undefeated American lightweight world champions will bring entirely different styles to the ring, Davis looking for yet another early finish but Stevenson doing all he can to slickly box his way to the win.

The fight is a pick ’em and Roy Jones Jr agreed in an interview with FightHype, but he believes that one small adjustment from either man could see him ‘dominate.’

“Boxing’s about who fights what fight. What style of fight Tank wants to fight. He got one style he can definitely dominate [with], one style that would be questionable. Shakur got one style that [means] he could dominate, one that would be questionable.

It depend on which style those guys try to fight each other. One does one thing and the other doesn’t know how to adjust to it then he’s gonna win … When you got fighters that good it’s all about who got the right game plan and who can make the adjustments.”

Jones has previously praised both fighters but said Stevenson had things to work on and that he was ‘going to be a great fighter’ when that time came.

Davis, on the other hand, Jones regards as one of the best pound-for-pound in the world in his current state. The retired multi-weight world champion said the Baltimore puncher’s mix of power and skill is a ‘deadly’ combination.

Shakur returns to the ring on October 12 to face two-time super-featherweight world champion Joe Cordina in his first bout at lightweight. ‘Tank’ is slated for November but is yet to announce an opponent and could well be pushed back to the new year.
