Roy Jones Jr has shared his verdict on the outcome of the controversial match-up between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul.
Reigning WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is set to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer in a 10-round exhibition clash at the Kaseya Center in Miami on November 14, in the latest high-profile boxing event to be broadcast around the world on Netflix.
The American duo faced-off for the very first time earlier this week at a press conference in Miami, where it was confirmed that their controversial clash will have a maximum weight limit of 195lbs and will require both fighters to wear 12oz gloves on fight night.
One man who knows a thing or two about competing in exhibitions is Hall of Famer Jones, who took on Mike Tyson in one back in November 2020.
Speaking on All The Smoke Fight, Jones claimed that he is actually interested in Davis and Paul’s exhibition, as he admits that he ‘knows for a fact’ that ‘Tank’ is capable of defeating his countryman via stoppage.
“Now to Tank’s credit, I’m interested in the Tank v Jake Paul exhibition because I know for a fact that if they do it for real, Tank is capable. Although he’s small, he’s capable of knocking Jake Paul out, just like Jake Paul’s probably capable of knocking him out because he’s so much bigger.”
Davis is set to step in to unfamiliar territory when he faces Paul later this year, a man that stands at eight inches taller than him and weighed in at a whopping 60 pounds heavier than him ahead of his most recent outing against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, compared to what ‘Tank’ weighed in at before he fought to a majority decision draw against Lamont Roach Jr back in March.
