The legendary Roy Jones Jr has revealed the one active fighter that he believes will end his career without suffering a single defeat.
Jones had an exceptional professional career of his own, establishing himself as one of the greatest fighters to have ever laced the gloves up along the way.
He entered the paid ranks back in 1989, just one year after his success at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea with a light-middleweight silver medal, though it is widely accepted that he should have been given the gold medal.
Jones would go on to become a four-division world champion during his storied tenure, defeating the likes of James Toney, Antonio Tarver, Felix Trinidad and Bernard Hopkins to name just a few.
Perhaps the most memorable victory of his career came in March of 2003 when he made the move up to heavyweight, defeating WBA world champion John Ruiz via unanimous decision at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Another American fighter that has established himself as arguably the greatest fighter of his generation in recent years is Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, who became a three-division undisputed champion when he defeated Canelo Alvarez on September 13.
Speaking to Boxing King Media, Jones was asked if he believes there is anyone out there capable of defeating Crawford, before revealing what he thinks makes ‘Bud’ such a ‘special’ fighter.
“No, nobody’s gonna beat him, nobody’s going to beat him … The fact that he fought on both sides and he’s a winner at heart, his heart is everything.”
It remains to be seen whether ‘Bud’ will go on to retire from the sport following this outstanding victory, which has sent him right back to the top of most people’s pound-for-pound rankings and cemented himself as arguably the greatest fighter of his entire generation.
