Roy Jones Jr Sums Up Klitschko’s Chances Of Beating Tyson Fury In Comeback Fight In Just 4 Words

Multi-weight world champion and boxing icon Roy Jones Jr has weighed in on the potential of Wladimir Klitschko returning for a rematch with Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian has been retired since 2017, bowing out on back-to-back losses to Fury and Anthony Joshua after an unprecedented period of dominance in the heavyweight ranks.

Recently, Klitschko’s long-discussed plan for a comeback has looked much more realistic. There has been reports of talks with IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois and Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has told the former unified champion directly that he wants to see him in with Fury should the Brit defeat Oleksandr Usyk later this month.

If those pieces fall into place, Jones told Covers.com:

“Klitschko has a chance”

The Hall of Fame fighter then elaborated, praising Wlad – who lost to Fury in 2015 against the odds by unanimous decision – and his brother Vitali for keeping good shape since retirement.

“Why shouldn’t Klitschko come back? I don’t know if Klitschko can win, but I think he has a chance. It just depends on how much his body has aged. But he has a chance. You have to remember the Klitschko brothers are very strong, very good boxers. They’re intellectual guys who took great care of their bodies, so they should be fine to fight at any age.”

Of course, a lot must happen for the fight to become a reality, not least Fury first getting past another Ukrainian in Usyk – something he didn’t manage to do back in May when they first fought for the undisputed title.
