Jake Paul takes the next step in his boxing journey when he faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr next month.

The Youtuber-turned-boxer faces Chavez Jr in Anaheim, California on June 28, with Paul fresh from his controversial victory over Mike Tyson in November.

Chavez Jr will be hoping to present a much sterner test for Paul, with the Mexican a former WBC middleweight champion, although since losing his belt to Sergio Martinez over a decade ago, he’s failed to reach those same heights.

He suffered a shock defeat to former UFC champion Anderson Silva in June 2021, who Paul himself then beat inside the boxing ring around 18 months later.

Another man that was linked to a fight with Paul at one stage was former multi-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr, who has now given his prediction for how the fight between ‘The Problem Child’ and Chavez Jr will go.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Jones Jr revealed he was backing Paul to get the victory, believing he will ‘take out’ Chavez Jr.

“Chavez Jr wasn’t the same after the Sergio Martinez fight. I think that fight might have taken a lot out of him.

“So at that point I don’t think he ever was the same, but he was a good fighter at one time, and all good fighters have a chance to show up one night because somewhere down in him there is a good fighter.

“Whether he can find it or not for the Jake Paul fight, we don’t know. But I think Jake should probably take him out, mainly because Jake beat Anderson Silva, and Silva beat Chavez.

“Sometimes it’s a triangle, sometimes it goes like that. But from what I’m seeing right now, I think Jake beats him because Jake’s bigger, Jake’s used to fighting more at that weight, and I think Jake just has more vigour right now, and will want to win more than Chavez does.”

Jones Jr isn’t the only big name that has made their prediction known for the fight, with Canelo Alvarez stating that his former opponent Chavez should, on a good training camp, pull off the win.
