Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr has predicted the result of a fantasy match-up between Floyd Mayweather and Roberto Duran.
Known for his come forward and aggressive fighting style, Duran established himself as one of the best fighters on the planet during the peak of his professional career, where he captured world titles in four weight divisions including the undisputed lightweight championship.
As for ‘Money’ Mayweather, the Michigan-native is considered to be one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever graced the sport. He became a five-weight world champion along the way, defeating the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.
Another man that is widely regarded as one of the best ever is four-weight world champion Jones Jr, and he has offered his thoughts on a potential Mayweather vs. Duran match-up.
Speaking on Ring Champs With Ak & Barak, Jones backed the Panamanian great to come out on top, something that legendary trainer Emanuel Steward also predicted.
“Don’t do it because you’re gonna p**s him [Mayweather] off again, you already p**sed him off one time, now you’re going to p**s him off again because you already know what I’m gonna say [Duran beats him]… You don’t see it? It can’t happen.”
At the height of his 33-year professional career, Duran became a member of ‘The Four Kings’, a legendary quartet that consisted of himself, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard.
‘Hands Of Stone’ shared the ring with a number of legendary fighters during his tenure, but perhaps the most important victory of his career came back in 1980 when he defeated Leonard to capture the WBC welterweight title in their first of three encounters.
